Ingate SIParator® passes Interoperability Testing with
Broadsoft's BroadWorks
SIParator® will enable BroadWorks' customers to utilize
SIP-based communications through enterprise firewalls
Stockholm, Sweden - August 21, 2002
- Ingate Systems, producer of the
world's first SIP-capable firewalls and SIParators, and BroadSoft®, Inc.,
the leader in voice applications and servers, today announced that the
Ingate SIParator® successfully interoperates with BroadSoft's award-winning
BroadWorks. The joint solution will allow businesses to pass SIP-based
communications through common enterprise firewalls.
Existing enterprise firewalls block SIP media streams and prevent
enterprises from the time and money-saving benefits of real-time
communications. The Ingate SIParator® solves this problem by connecting to
the enterprise firewall - seamlessly allowing SIP traversal while
protecting the company's firewall investment. By using the SIParator® in
conjunction with BroadSoft's BroadWorks enterprises with existing firewalls
can have access to SIP-based communications such as voice mail,
conferencing, and auto attendant as well as personal calling functions such
as selective call forwarding and notification, call transfer and
simultaneous ringing. BroadWorks is the industry's first complete set of
voice applications and servers designed to enable service providers to
deliver basic and enhanced voice services to enterprises of any size.
SIP, or Session Initiation Protocol, is the IETF signalling protocol that
allows interoperable real-time communications regardless of who is
providing the service. With providers and vendors such as Microsoft, AOL,
AT&T, MSN, Yahoo!, Cisco Systems, Pingtel, BroadSoft, and CommWorks
offering or developing SIP-based product and services, it will only be a
matter of time before SIP is as standard for VoIP and other real-time
communications as HTTP is for the Web.
"The flexibility and ease of use that SIP offers are paving the way for a
host of new communications services and capabilities that will help
businesses improve efficiency, productivity and profitability" said Scott
Wharton, BroadSoft's vice president of marketing. "As VoIP more widely
incorporates SIP, our interoperability with the Ingate SIParator® will allow
our customers to have the same carrier-class scalability, maintenance,
reliability, with the added benefits of traversing enterprise firewalls."
"BroadSoft's leadership position in IP Centrex and telephony voice
applications combined with Ingate's ability to bring SIP to the enterprise
is furthering our mission of bringing the time and money-saving benefits of
SIP-based communications easily and cost-effectively to enterprises of all
size," said Olle Westerberg, CEO of Ingate Systems. "Our successful
passage of BroadSoft's interoperability testing shows just how easily
Ingate can bring SIP securely to the enterprise."
