Ingate Systems Sells SIParator® to Telia

SIP-based telephony made possible through Ingate's unique product.

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, April 8, 2002. Telia International Carrier, one of Europe's largest suppliers of transatlantic IP traffic, has purchased Ingate System's unique SIParator®, an add-on that enables existing network firewalls to allow SIP communications, bringing interoperable realtime communications to the enterprise.

"Ingate has successfully delivered firewalls to the Scandinavian market since 1997. With this deal we see a breakthrough for our new product, the Ingate SIParator®. That the first customer is a company with Telia's caliber is confirmation that our technology is not only new but also essential," says Olle Westerberg, CEO of Ingate Systems.

The order is the start of an internal Telia evaluation project for SIP-based IP telephony, primarily aiming to investigate the feasibility of using IP telephony on a wide scale within Telia. "For months we looked for a solution to make SIP traffic travel safely through our firewall. With Ingate's SIParator® Telia can utilize SIP communications without having to re-engineer our network and with maintained security," says Per-Erik Eriksson, development manager at Telia International Carrier.

The evaluation will initially involve about a hundred Telia International Carrier staff members as well as a number of other companies within the Telia group. The strategy is to roll-out the Ingate SIParator® throughout the Telia group.

Part of the deal between Telia and Ingate is that the Ingate SIParator® will be certified by Telia Validation after passing a series of thorough tests to verify that the SIParator® meets the security criteria required to be allowed in the Telia network. Physically the SIParator® will be attached to Telia's existing firewall and placed in Telia's global DMZ network.
