Indigo Software and Ingate Systems Join Forces For
Firewall Partnership
Leading companies in SIP software development to offer secure end-to-end IP communications solutions to the enterprise
SAN FRANCISCO, CA, and STOCKHOLM, SWEDEN - May 15, 2002 - Indigo Software, leading developer of real-time
communications software based on Session Initiation Protocol (SIP), and Ingate Systems, the world’s first provider of
SIP-capable firewalls and SIParators, today announced a partnership aimed at expanding IP communications services
offered to the enterprise. The two companies will commence working together on a number of selected customers in both
Europe and the United States.
SIP has rapidly become the de facto standard for Voice-over-IP (VoIP) and other person-to-person realtime communications.
However, SIP-based communication was unable to traverse current firewall and Network Address Translations (NATs),
stalling both universal connectivity between SIP terminals on different private LANs and direct connectivity to the
infrastructure of service providers.
With Indigo Software’s SIP server suite (comprising Proxy, Registrar, Redirect and Location servers, and augmented by
the newly released Indigo Presence server) and Ingate’s SIP-capable firewalls and SIParators (a device that
SIP-enables an existing network firewall), both companies can now offer a secure end-to-end SIP solution for enterprises
globally, by way of a joint referral agreement.
"The match between Indigo Software and Ingate Systems is an obvious one," said Edward Keegan, Head of Business
Development, EMEA at Indigo Software. "Both companies are focused on the delivery of cost-effective and scalable
solutions to bring SIP communications securely to the enterprise."
"As we fulfill our mission of bringing SIP to the enterprise, Ingate is pleased to pool resources with Indigo to provide SIP
solutions quickly, efficiently, and with the flexibility that our customers require," said Olle Westerberg, CEO of Ingate
Systems.
Indigo Software’s generally available ensemble of SIP servers and APIs is fully interoperable with Ingate’s
SIP-capable firewalls, resulting in a security solution that has been crucially missing from current SIP offerings.
