Ingate® and Mediatrix Complete Interoperability Testing
SIP-Enabling End-to-End Solution Resolves
Firewall Traversal Issues for Enterprises Migrating Their Legacy
System to an IP Telephony Network
STOCKHOLM and MONTREAL, February 23, 2004-
Ingate Systems AB (www.ingate.com), the leading supplier of Session
Initiation Protocol (SIP)-capable enterprise firewalls, and Mediatrix
Telecom Inc., a leader in Voice over IP (VoIP) access technology,
today announced that the two companies have completed interoperability
testing with Mediatrix's award-winning 1000 Series analog access
devices and gateways, and Ingate Firewall® and Ingate
SIParator® products.
The Mediatrix access devices and gateways are
used to connect end-user telephony equipment, including analog phones
and faxes, PBX and Key Systems, to the operators' IP-enabled network.
Ingate's Firewalls and SIParator products allow the enterprise to
quickly add support for realtime communications based on SIP, the
standard protocol for VoIP, instant messaging, presence and a host of
person-to-person applications.
Companies investing in VoIP networks need to address the conversion
of their analog communications equipment to IP communications
devices and the traversal of VoIP signaling and media streams through
their firewall. Together, Ingate Firewalls and Mediatrix
access devices and gateways have been proven in interoperability
testing to reduce the risk and timeframe associated with
deploying a VoIP solution. Consequently, customers looking to
leverage their investment in legacy CPE benefit from the confidence
of selecting a fully tested, end-to-end solution.
"The completion of interoperability testing between Mediatrix' and
Ingate's products represents a milestone for companies that want
to leverage VoIP, IM and other SIP-based applications. Our goal at
Ingate is to deliver innovative, superior-quality products that
bring SIP to every enterprise, on any budget. This interoperability
testing pushes that mission forward, by offering customers a
truly complete end-to-end solution," said Olle Westerberg, Chief
Executive Officer, Ingate Systems.
Ingate produces and sells the world's first SIP-capable enterprise
firewalls. The SIParator, a device that connects to an existing
network firewall to seamlessly enable the traversal of SIP
communications, earned Internet Telephony magazine's Product of the
Year Award in 2002 and again in 2003.
"Interoperability testing is a core part of our culture at
Mediatrix," stated Marc Shapiro, VP marketing, Mediatrix. "The work
we have done with Ingate demonstrates our commitment to providing
enterprise customers with field-proven VoIP solutions that minimize
investment and maximize their return."
Mediatrix access devices and gateways are standards based and
designed to meet carrier-grade requirements. The products are
feature-rich with security and QoS capabilities and interoperate with
H.323, SIP, MGCP and NCS protocols. In addition, units can be
remotely configured and managed by Mediatrix' Unit Manager Network - a
unique SNMP-based element manager.
