Ingate Unveils New Firewall 1180 and SIParator 18
SIP-Enabling Small Businesses, Branch Offices and Home Workers
VON Europe 2005,Stockholm, May 23, 2005-
Ingate® Systems www.ingate.com, whose award-winning security products enable enterprises to solve the problem of letting Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) traverse their firewalls, unveils the Ingate Firewall® 1180 and Ingate SIParator® 18 at VON Europe 2005. Both are powerful tools that offer complete support for SIP-based IP communications, such as VoIP, to small businesses, branch offices or home offices.
Levelling the playing field for smaller enterprises, the Firewall 1180 and SIParator 18 offer these businesses the same opportunities to leverage the productivity and cost-savings benefits of SIP-based IP communications as large corporations.
Both the Firewall 1180 and SIParator 18 have three ports and offer a 25 Mbit throughput. Small and versatile, the Ingate Firewall 1180 and SIParator 18 have no fan and are virtually silent, which means there.s no need for a separate server room. The management interface is the same Web-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) that has been cited by Ingate customers and the media for ease-of-use.
"The Firewall 1180 and SIParator 18 bring VoIP, IM and a host of SIP-based applications to the small business, branch office or home worker," said Olle Westerberg, Chief Executive Officer, Ingate Systems."With these products, any business . regardless of size, or location . can enjoy the benefits of increased productivity and the cost-savings associated with IP applications such as Internet telephony."
Ingate Firewall 1180
Included with the 1180 are ten SIP user licenses that can be used for the registration of SIP user agents, such as phones and soft clients, on the SIP registrar. Five SIP traversal licenses also come standard, allowing up to five calls to traverse the Firewall at the same time. Additional SIP user licenses and SIP traversal licenses can be purchased at any time.
Like all Ingate Firewalls, the 1180 boasts the company's proven security technology. Ingate offers the only full SIP proxy-based solution on the market today, delivering maximum control over SIP signaling, traffic, and network security. TLS encryption ensures privacy when communicating, making eavesdropping, call hijacking and call spoofing difficult.
All Ingate Firewalls are fully featured, supporting stateful inspection and packet filtering. In addition to full support for SIP, Ingate Firewalls have a proxy for all standard protocols, including TCP, UDP, FTP and DHCP.
Ingate SIParator 18
The Ingate SIParator is a stand-alone device that connects to an existing network firewall to seamlessly enable the traversal of SIP communications.
Included with the SIParator 18 are ten SIP user licenses that can be used for the registration of SIP user agents, such as soft phones and soft clients, on the SIP registrar. Five SIP traversal licenses also come standard, allowing up to five calls to traverse the firewall attached to the SIParator at the same time. Additional SIP user licenses and SIP traversal licenses can be purchased at any time.
The SIParator 18 can be configured as a part of the DMZ or in a standalone mode. In both cases, the benefits of SIP-based communications can be added to the network simply and easily.
In addition, all Ingate Firewalls and SIParators include an encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) termination module.
IP PBX Support/Microsoft Office LCS Compatibility
The 1180 and 18 are an ideal compliment to an IP PBX system. They support advanced IP PBX functions such as call transfer, call hold and voicemail. They also boast full support and compatibility for Microsoft Office Live Communications Server (LCS) 2005, allowing voice, video, IM and presence applications to work outside the LAN.
Far- and Near-End NAT Traversal
Like all Ingate products, the 1180 and 18 solve the Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal issues inherent in SIP communications, and offer both far- and near-end NAT traversal to extend the SIP capabilities within the corporate network to remote workers.
With traditional firewalls, SIP signaling and media cannot be delivered to clients or IP-PBXs behind the NAT because the IP addresses for those devices are not routable in the public Internet. This creates a barrier to SIP communications, such as IM or VoIP. Ingate products overcome this barrier and allow SIP traffic to go through.
The Ingate Firewall 1180 and Ingate SIParator 18 are available now. Both retail for $900.
