Ingate Introduces Midrange Firewalls and SIParators
Six New SIP-Enabling Firewall Products with Unparalleled Flexibility for Growing Businesses
Stockholm and Hollis May 22, 2007
Ingate® Systems (www.ingate.com), which develops firewall technology and products that enable SIP-based live communication for the enterprise while maintaining control and security at the network edge, unveils six new SIP-enabling firewall products for midsized businesses: the Ingate Firewall® 1500, the Ingate Firewall 1550 and the Ingate Firewall 1650; and the Ingate SIParator® 50, the Ingate SIParator 55 and the Ingate SIParator 65.
Ingate’s award-winning Firewalls and SIParators solve the Network Address Translation (NAT) traversal issues with SIP. Like all Ingate Firewalls and SIParators, the new products allow businesses to use SIP-based realtime communications – including VoIP – to reach users not only within the local area network but outside the enterprise as well.
Ingate Firewalls provide full enterprise security for all SIP and data traffic, while enabling SIP communication. Ingate SIParators work seamlessly with an existing firewall to allow the traversal of SIP traffic through the enterprise edge, securing SIP media while leaving the firewalling of data traffic to the existing security device.
All three Firewall models and all three SIParator models are based on the same hardware platform. The 1500/50 and 1550/55 can easily be upgraded to a higher version with a simple software download, offering enterprises unparalleled flexibility as they need invest in only as much capacity as presently needed with an option to grow capacity without replacing the hardware.
The new Firewalls and SIParators are in compliance with the European Union’s Restriction of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive.
“Ingate’s new Firewalls and SIParators offer midsized businesses the opportunity to leverage all the benefits of SIP communications, and take advantage of IP technologies such as SIP trunking, at an attractive price point,” said Steven Johnson, President, Ingate Systems. “They offer businesses the flexibility to increase capacity at any time, an important feature for growing businesses.”
Capacity and Features
The Ingate Firewalls 1500/1550/1650 and Ingate SIParators 50/55/65 have four gigaports each. Their throughput and concurrent RTP sessions (calls that can be handled simultaneously) are as follows:
- Ingate Firewall 1500 (throughput 350 Mbit/s, 150 concurrent RTP sessions)
- Ingate Firewall 1550 (throughput 380 Mbit/s, 300 concurrent RTP sessions)
- Ingate Firewall 1650 (throughput 385 Mbit/s, 650 concurrent RTP sessions)
- Ingate SIParator 50 (throughput 350 Mbit/s, 150 concurrent RTP sessions)
- Ingate SIParator 55 (throughput 380 Mbit/s, 300 concurrent RTP sessions)
- Ingate SIParator 65 (throughput 385 Mbit/s, 650 concurrent RTP sessions)
The new Firewalls and SIParators include five SIP traversal licenses, allowing up to five calls to traverse the firewall simultaneously. Additional SIP user and traversal licenses can be purchased at any time.
Connecting to SIP Trunks
Ingate Firewalls and SIParators make it possible for enterprises to connect their IP-PBX to SIP trunks offered by Internet telephony service providers (ITSPs) while maintaining the security and integrity of their network. They provide unparalleled features to enable SIP trunking connections with ease and flexibility.
The Ingate Advantage
Offering both far- and near-end NAT traversal, Ingate products extend the SIP capabilities within the corporate network to remote workers, satellite offices, etc. They also feature Ingate's SIP proxy technology, which delivers maximum control over SIP signaling, traffic and network security, creating one truly converged network for both data and VoIP.
This high level of control makes it simple to fit Ingate products into any solution based on SIP. With a strict adherence to the SIP protocol, Ingate Firewalls and SIParators can be adapted quickly and easily to work in most SIP scenarios. Initial configuration is simplified using Ingate’s Startup Tool.
All Ingate Firewalls and SIParators are fully featured, supporting stateful inspection and packet filtering, with rules defined and maintained by the network security administer utilizing the GUI. They include an encrypted Virtual Private Network (VPN) termination module. In addition to complete support for SIP, Ingate Firewalls have a proxy for all standard protocols including TCP, UDP, FTP and DHCP.
Encrypted VoIP Calls
Ingate products support encrypted RTP (Realtime Transport Protocol), which provides a high level of security for live data with advanced encryption, confidentiality, message authentication, and replay protection. They also support Transport Layer Security (TLS) for secure SIP signaling. When combined with encrypted RTP, these protocols further shield users from eavesdroppers, hackers and spoofers.
The Ingate Firewalls 1500/1550/1650 and SIParators 50/55/65 are available now.
